Crêpes are my favorite thing to come out of France. That's why I was ecstatic to hear about the very authentic Monique's Crêpes food truck traveling around Richmond (berets and French flags included).
Monique's has an extensive menu for such a small truck, but I knew I had to start with a savory galette. I tried the Obrigado (local Olli Salumeria chorizo, sautéed rainbow peppers, sweet onions and mushrooms topped with Manchego cheese and served with a side salad). It was mouthwatering and very filling, too.
I managed to save room for a sweet crêpe, and I'm so glad I did. I ordered A Nice Pear, consisting of fresh pears poached in honey, vanilla and lemon zest on whipped goat cheese, with a topping of honey and sliced almonds. Heavenly is the only way to describe this dessert.
For a schedule, check out the truck's Facebook page, follow @MoniquesCrepes on Twitter or visit moniquescrepes.com . Prices range from $3 to $11.
