Students who sign up for Sur La Table's Late Summer Canning and Preserving Workshop on Aug. 25 will learn how to store away the summer's produce for the upcoming seasons.
"They will also learn some ways they can take fresh summer foods or things they find in the grocery store, and enhance the flavors," says Lynne Just, resident chef at the Stony Point Fashion Park store.
The course, taught by Sarah Mitchell, begins at 11 a.m. and lasts approximately two hours. Sixteen seats are available at $69 each. Jam, pickles, bell peppers, onion relish and marmalade are on this month's menu, and students will leave class with a few jars that they have produced.
