Recognized as a Virginia Century Farm by the Virginia Department of Agriculture for 100 years of continuous operation serving the local community. The farm is self-sufficient, producing feed-corn, barley, wheat, hay and straw for their heritage cattle. Specialty: Grass-fed, grain-finished, local Virginia beef Production Methods: Black Angus and Angus Cross feeder calves are purchased at the Fredericksburg Livestock Exchange, grazed on Monrovia Farm's pastures and finished on homegrown alfalfa hay, silage and small grains. Where to get it in RVA: Chef/owner Andy Howell's "Beef of the Day" at Camden's Dogtown Market features prime cuts like dry-aged New York strip and rib-eye prepared simply to let the flavor and marbling speak for themselves. The menu also features Monrovia Farm ground beef burgers, and slow-braised items like Howell's famous pot roast appear from time to time as he works his way through each side of beef.
