Real Richmond is expanding on its walking and food-sampling tours with a Wild in the City event on select Tuesdays, including July 10 and 24. "I wrote the guidebook Insider's Guide to Richmond and kind of had Richmond on the brain," says Maureen Egan, who started Real Richmond with Susan Winiecki, whose involvement in the venture is separate from her role as Richmond magazine's editor-in-chief. "[We] decided to start [Real Richmond] to showcase this as Richmond's strength," Egan says. On Saturdays, the regular tours consist of walking through one of the city's business districts to meet restaurant owners and sample their food. But the Wild in the City events, led by Egan, include hikes along the James River, a picnic catered by Alamo BBQ and delivered by Quickness RVA, and a zip-line ride over Belle Isle Quarry by Passages Adventure Camp. These tours take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m., and tickets cost $50 for both the tour and zip line or $35 without the zip line. For more information, visit realrichmondva.com.
