Location:
Columbia, in western Goochland County
History:
The Stoneman family acquired several thousand acres in Goochland in the mid-19th century. For years, the farm was primarily a cattle operation. A dairy was added in the mid-20th century. Although most of the land was subsequently sold, Philip Stoneman (the great-grandson of the original owner) and his family still actively farm the land.
Specialty
In addition to seasonal vegetables (strawberries, greens, heirloom tomatoes, eggplants and more), Byrd Farm offers homemade jams and jellies, and non-GMO eggs. They also have formed a network with small, local growers to offer products such as locally raised beef, pork, lamb, poultry and cheese through a farm store, the Rural Virginia Market CSA ( ruralvirginiamarket.com ) and other local farmers markets.

Byrd Farm is USDA-certified organic and is a member of the Virginia Association for Biological Farmers.
