Sufferers from chronic low-back pain might have a new treatment option at Virginia iSpine Physicians on Richmond's South Side. The spinal disorder clinic was one of 20 centers selected to participate in an international clinical trial looking at a minimally invasive therapy to treat the condition. The procedure involves inserting a small tube into the spine that uses radio frequency energy to disable the problem nerve. "We don't currently have ideal options for certain patients with axial low-back pain," says president and medical director Dr. Michael DePalma. "Yet that is the most common complaint we see as spine practitioners." For more information, call 330-0303 or visit vaispine.com .
