A canine companion is a necessary accessory if you want to attract notice amid the masses at Easter on Parade on Monument, and Fifi had better be extra fluffed. Hence, we offer our sartorial advice for fashionable canines and their people:
Small dogs: Go to town. Your Yorkie, Chihuahua or, best of all, toy poodle can carry off all manner of frilly bonnets, be they affixed with lace, ribbons or marshmallow Peeps. Or all three.
Retrievers: Because there are so many of this breed around Richmond, your dog must take a fashion risk to stand out. Black Labs have an advantage because their dark coats will make neon pink and yellow stand out. Consider temporary hair dyes, using floral stencils to make patterns.
"Masculine" dogs: Can you imagine anything sweeter than a Great Dane or a Boxer with a pair of rabbit ears? It's not the most surprising idea, but there's a reason the ears are a classic. To make a bigger impression, attach an Easter basket to your dog's harness.
