Chesterfield County School Board members introduced the school division's new superintendent, James Lane, on Tuesday, March 22.
Chesterfield County Public Schools on Tuesday afternoon announced James F. Lane will be the division’s next superintendent.
Lane, 38, has served as Goochland County Public Schools’ superintendent since 2012. The Virginia Association of Superintendents last month named him the region’s top superintendent. When he starts in July, Lane will inherit the state’s fifth largest school system from Marcus Newsome, who announced his retirement last fall after a decade at the helm of CCPS.
Richmond Magazine spoke with Lane for our Top High Schools package (October 2015) to discuss the future of the state’s school accountability system. Read the story here.
