Syd Dorsey totes a full schedule, with a full purse to match. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Dorsey sits on the Board of Visitors for her alma mater, as well as many other community committees, and she's the special assistant to the commonwealth's secretary of technology. Dorsey says that her typical day could start early with business over breakfast and run late into the night with dinner meetings, so she keeps a variety of beauty products on hand to maintain a fresh appearance that lasts all day. "My average day is that there is no average day," Dorsey explains. "I lead a high-profile life, so my appearance is something I need to pay attention to."
Helen of Troy (gold series) curling iron
"I have a lot of long, thick curly hair," Dorsey says. "Keeping that in order is the biggest challenge."
Lancôme waterproof concealer, mascara and eye pencil
"I have been using it [Lancôme] for about 20 years," Dorsey says. "I like the colors, and once you find something that works, you stick with it."
Shimmer Coral Sunset blush, Lancôme; Bronze Glow blush, Lancôme
"I wear the bronze one when I need a tan!"
Hair "scrunchy"
"If you saw me, you would understand … I'm always in fear of a humid day." Dorsey's scrunchy is more of a braided ponytail holder than the floppy fabric ones from the 1980s.
