Getting ready just got a whole lot faster — and dirtier. Smooth, set looks are a thing of the past, says Jo Brandon, Salon del Sol master stylist. "Wearing messier, bed-head hair has been in style for a while," she says of the more modern, textured looks. To best achieve this 'do, hair must have its natural oils that are stripped by daily washing. Brandon suggests washing your hair every two to three days.
Water-less shampoos and powders are another alternative. They are becoming more popular among Richmond women, Brandon says. Options include Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser ($10 for 2 ounces, at Sephora), Fresh Hair ($11, at Professional Beauty Supply) and No H2O ($7.99, at Sally Beauty Supply). Unwilling to give up frequent shampooing but want the bed-head look? Brandon recommends Aveda's Pure Abundance Hair Potion ($22, at Salon del Sol and Mango Salon), a hair powder that gives hair that messy look.
