The reusable bags are functional and cute.
Just about three weeks ago, a new shop landed in Carytown — The Traveling Chic Boutique is located across from Cary Court at 3143 W. Cary St. The shop is the first Virginia location of the small franchise, which also has one location in Southern Pines, N.C., and one in Greenville, S.C. The concept is focused around an ever-rotating selection of affordable designer clothes, accessories and refurbished cowboy boots.
Once items sell out they’re gone — there are no reorders, and at least half the inventory changes weekly, so there are always new items to browse. On my first shopping trip, I was impressed with the moderately priced selection of clothes, which was on the low end for a small boutique. In fact, I took home a black lace dress with half sleeves and a low V-back that will be perfect for fall for around $68. I’ll be stopping back regularly to check out the wall of refurbished cowboy boots in tons of styles and colors, which also were affordably priced.
In fact, if you have a size 6 1/2 foot you should rush in right now and hope the red Capezio cowboy boots are still there. The jewelry selection includes mid-priced designer collections like House of Harlow. When you make a purchase, you get the choice to donate 88 cents to charity and carry your purchase wrapped in paper, or take a reusable bag, which is a nice touch. I have to admit the reusable bags are pretty cute, and I couldn’t resist taking one home with me. Check the store out yourself. It’s a fun addition to Cary Street.
