Na Nin Studio (101 S. Addison St., shopnanin.com) — The best place in town for an intimate and cozy shopping experience, Na Nin Studio boasts exclusive collaborations with independent women’s clothing brands and sells home goods and made-in-house perfumes.
Y&H Mercantile (119-A N. Robinson St., 658-0094) — Opened by a husband-and-wife team from California who brought their West Coast perspective to Richmond.

The City Slicker
For those who frequent downtown Richmond’s business district, a polished style is important. Here are some men’s retailers that are founded on principles of quality and craftsmanship.
Alton Lane (304 Libbie Ave., [888] 800-8616) —A by-appointment-only, premium tailored-apparelstore that lets clients design custom suits, blazers,tuxedos and shirts.
Ledbury (117 S. 14th St. No. 100, [888] 233-1942) — Ledbury began as a luxury off-the-rack shirt maker and has expanded to produce its own line of sport coats, sweaters and accessories. (Full disclosure: I’m the primary writer for Ledbury’s blog.)
Peter-Blair (5413 Patterson Ave., Suite 201, 716-9099) — Offers classic and fun neckwear accessories made in the United States from 100-percent silk.
Saxon Shoes (Short Pump Town Center, 285-3473) — A local institution since 1953, this men’s, women’s and children’s shoe store has a dedicated following due to its wide selection and relationships with generations of customers.

The Luxury Aficionado
There’s no need to go all the way to Fifth Avenue in New York City when you can shop designer brands right herein Richmond.
Roan (3142 W. Cary St, 288-3699) — A luxury boutique that features established designers as well as emerging talents, with an ever-changing selection of ready-to-wear fashion, jewelry, shoes and accessories.
Verdalina (325 W. Broad St., 788-8800) — A boutique born out of a desire to provide Richmond with timeless clothing that utilizes sustainable practices and high-quality production values.
Saks Fifth Avenue (Stony Point Fashion Park, 320-6960) — The iconic department store carries designer apparel, shoes, accessories and home goods. No further introduction needed.

The Western Drifter
Your name doesn’t have to be Clint Eastwood, and you don’t have to live in the middle of a New Mexico desert to embrace the Western trend, which can be found on patrons at a handful of local coffee shops, particularly Lamplighter Roasting Co. Think wide-brim hats, turquoise jewelry, denim shirts — and perhaps a poncho for good measure.
Blue Bones Vintage (322 W. Broad St., 308-2692) — Shares a retail space with one of Richmond’s finest record stores, Steady Sounds, and offers a curated collection of secondhand men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and jewelry.
Addison Handmade & Vintage (103 S. Addison St., addisonhandmadevintage.com) — A collective of secondhand-clothing enthusiasts with incredibly sharp eyes for style joined forces to open this men’s and women’s clothing and accessories shop.
Yesterday’s Heroes Vintage (105 S. Addison St. 204-1313) — Offers a constantly rotating collection of new and used men’s and women’s clothing and home goods.
Rosewood Clothing Co. (16. W. Broad St., rosewoodclothingco on Instagram) — Broad Street in downtown Richmond is experiencing a retail renaissance of sorts, and this is the latest addition. Shop here for new and used women’s clothing and accessories.
