Quickness RVA, Richmond’s on-bike local delivery service, is adding same-day delivery of flowers and fashion to its offerings. In the past, the company has partnered with local restaurants Lamplighter Roasting, Greek on Cary, Strange Matter, Ipanema and other eateries to deliver local cuisine to Richmond residents. As of last week, Rumors Boutique teamed up with Quickness to offer same-day delivery for its clothing. Photosynthesis Floral Design will also partner with Quickness beginning this holiday season.
“Quickness is beginning to offer retail delivery because this is a time that Richmond needs to stick together and strengthen pathways to local artisans,” says Quickness Manager Jose D’Alta. “We’ve seen an explosion of web marketplaces and web delivery, attempts to erode brick-and-mortar storefronts and the personal connections that come with them, more and more national chains coming into town.”
Quickness recently launched its own online delivery site, where customers can order food or request services from the convenience of their phone or computer. The site offers delivery from any Richmond restaurant, retail establishment or residence. With the custom order tab, customers can request other tasks beyond food or clothing delivery. For example, customers can order carryout at a local restaurant and dispatch a rider to pick up their food. Quickness also offers the option to pick up or deliver packages for customers. A new partnership with the Fan’s Trolley Markets starting this week will allow customers to order alcohol, cigarettes, groceries and even kegs.
Quickness is hoping the expansion of the company will drive more customers to Richmond businesses. “This city has a thriving, unique commercial community, says D'Alta. “We want to find new ways to help Richmonders tap into what we’ve built.”
