Before founding Richmond haberdashery Staunton&Studds, Michael Cain Seay worked for British clothing and jewelry manufacturer Toye, Kenning & Spencer for four years. "Michael was looking at 18th-century-style metal work and embroidery [from] that time period," Staunton&Studds co-owner Lauren Gwaley says. "He wasn't seeing the quality and standards that he saw from the generation of his great-grandparents." Seay and Gwaley design cufflinks, ascots, lapels and ties in their Richmond studio for clients around the world. Call 925-8565 or visit stauntonandstudds.com .
