
An electronic check-in station is expediting the patient registration process at the John Randolph Medical Center emergency room. In addition to establishing the order in which patients are seen, the devices retrieve information on a patient's medication history and previous hospital visits, which hospital staff can use to speed up the diagnosis and treatment process. "This technology creates a way for information to flow quickly and accurately from patients to caregivers," medical center CEO Suzanne Jackson says of the portals, which were installed in November.
