After receiving a devastating colon cancer diagnosis for her husband, a woman turned to the Community Health Education Center in the bustling Gateway Building at VCU Medical Center for resources on how to take care of a patient going through treatment.
"I think finding out more about their condition helps patients and caregivers feel more empowered to deal with it," says Dana Ladd, a librarian at the consumer health library. The center, which marks its 10th year of service in 2012, also hosts monthly health-related programs. For more information, call 828-2432 or visit vcuhealth.org/chec .
