In November, pediatric patients at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU were invited to explore their own secret garden on the roof of the hospital. "There is more to health than medicine, especially for children," says Heather Kinney, senior certified child life specialist at the medical center. The 4,000-square-foot, open-air space on the seventh floor of the Main Hospital on the VCU Medical Center campus was designed to meet the needs of children who are connected to multiple pieces of medical equipment, in wheelchairs and in patient beds.
