Following up on the artistic baby and family portraits installed in VCU Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit several years ago, the Hayes & Fisk Photography studio is putting together a collection of 75 new photos for the hospital's redesigned Mother/Infant Care Unit.
As of early April, the studio had photographed 36 families, children and pregnant women. Those who volunteer to be photographed receive a 5-by-7-inch picture, as well as clothing discounts for the sessions from businesses such as Hip To Be Round and Buttons and Bows.
Jamie Hayes, business partner with Mary Fisk-Taylor, says up to 150 sessions are needed to complete the series, and that the portraits could be installed in May. After that, Hayes & Fisk will continue taking maternity-themed pictures for exhibition in VCU's Labor and Delivery ward, he says.
