After spending two weeks at The Greater Richmond ARC's Camp Baker last summer, 15-year-old Gracie Hazelton seemed a little crestfallen when it was time to head home and leave her friends, a reaction so typically adolescent that it delighted her mom, Elizabeth. Gracie was born with a neuromuscular disorder called arthrogryposis, and while she cannot walk or talk, her enthusiasm for Camp Baker was evident. "Our daughter loves it," Elizabeth Hazelton says. "It's clearly a great fit for her." The summer camp for special-needs children ages 5 to 17 will hold two sessions in August this year. For more information, call 748-4789 or visit richmondarc.org .
