Family-owned Saxon Shoes turned 60 in June, and on Oct. 19, the company is holding a celebration. "There's going to be a lot of action that day," store president Gary Weiner says of the event, which includes a birthday cake, live music and presentations by co-founder Gloria Weiner Adams. The Short Pump shop, which renovated its 26,000-square-foot space in March 2012, carries more than 200 brand-name shoes for men, women and children. "Where we are now really didn't exist [in 1953]," Weiner says. "It's a pretty powerful transformation from '53 to now for Saxon and for Richmond." 285-3473 or saxonshoes.com.
