In addition to designing custom invitations and scouting inventory, Elizabeth Howard, owner of Cordial Cricket, a stationery and gift boutique in Chester, also engages in some do-it-yourself marketing for her store, tweeting, blogging, brainstorming and writing newsletters — all after the shop is closed. In August, her late-night hours were given national recognition.
The Cordial Cricket was a finalist in the annual Retail Excellence Awards conducted by the industry magazine Gifts & Decorative Accessories, placing as a runner-up in the Retail Internet Innovator and Marketing Achievement categories.
