If you're going a little stir-crazy from too many inside play days with the kids, take heart. Warm weather is on the way.
Kinsey Peeler found the perfect Saturday-morning spot for her two young children — Huguenot Park in Chesterfield.
"We spend about an hour and a half there," she says. "My kids love the slides. They have about five or six different sizes and varieties of slides and swings. Plus, they have a huge sandbox."
Huguenot Park, on Robious Road, offers a fully accessible playground, picnic areas, basketball courts, soccer and football fields, and flat, wooded trails.
Families can find dozens of fun spots throughout the metro area, including Forest Hill Park in the city's South Side. Along with a vast expanse of lawn and trees, the park includes playground shelters, tennis courts and a tot lot.
At Three Lakes Nature Center and Aquarium in Henrico's North Side, you'll find a variety of exhibits with hands-on features, along with a 50,000-gallon aquarium. The exhibits at the center include some of the plants and wildlife living in the area.
