Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, begins at sundown on Sunday, Dec. 6. Lighting a candle each night for eight nights is at the heart of the celebration.
This gold-tone menorah ($180) by Michael Aram is a glamorous piece. It’s part of the artist’s Rock Collection, one inspired by jagged rock formations — and art history. The collection references Art Deco and Cubist forms, along with a pinch of 1970’s rock 'n' roll.
Perhaps it’s fitting, then, that pieces from this collection are featured at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' gift shops.
You’ll find “Rock” bookends and a cheese plate with knife at the Stony Point Mall shop, along with striking “Rock” candlesticks ($200 a pair). These stalwart and gilded foot-high candle holders, like Aram’s memorable menorah, provide another way to light up nights in December.
