This Thursday, April 2, Ruth & Ollie will host an opening reception for the artist Mary Kathryn Holden Woodward. Fifty or so of her paintings, sized large to small, will be for sale and on display in Ruth & Ollie’s picture windows on Cary Street.
Drop by between 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and raise a glass to Woodward, whose paintings may look familiar — we featured her house in R•Home last spring, and her colorful art leaped off the page.
There will be light food, beer and Prosecco, too, and lots of bright paintings that lure.
The exhibition’s called “Botanicals and Abstract Imaginings,” and, true to its name, includes still lifes, flowers, abstracts and landscapes. One is shown above.
Woodward’s works whir with wonderful colors. They buzz with greens and blues, hot pinks, turquoise and orange.
Kat Liebschwager, co-owner of Ruth & Ollie with her husband, Mike, and founder of Kat Liebschwager Interiors, is excited to spread the word about Woodward’s paintings and tomorrow night’s reception.
“I received a sneak peek of the art that Mary Kathryn is bringing,” she says. “It is all so fabulous. Fun bright colors . . . botanicals and abstracts.”
The exhibition runs through the end of April.
Ruth & Ollie is at 3108 W. Cary St. Regular hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
