As one industry publication put it, “Shaw’s exit from the rug business [has taken] the rug world by surprise.” On Jan. 6, Shaw Industries, the world’s biggest producer of carpets, announced that they’re leaving the area-rug business for good.
Once the news broke, buyers for Ollie’s Bargain Outlet swept in and purchased 312,275 area rugs, all which remained at the plant. Ollie’s stores (Richmond has two locations) are now filled with Shaw rugs available at deep, deep discounts.
The rugs hit stores on Jan. 15. I’d hurry in to take advantage of the best selection.
You’ll find all styles of designs, from traditional and contemporary to casual, all at 75 percent-off retail prices. Small rugs, such as 26-by-45-inch, are $9.99. Five-by-seven-foot versions are $49.99.
Shaw had partnered with HGTV Home, Bob Timberlake and Kathy Ireland to offer smart designer looks. Some are pictured above.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is at 3950 Meadowdale Blvd. and 12450 Gayton Rd. in Richmond. Store hours at both locations are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
