We can’t get enough of this home décor trend—the new focus on the feminine in home furnishings. “The Goods” section in our current issue of R●HOME includes a smattering of ladylike pieces. You can check out a slide show of the items by clicking here.
After years of hard lines and strong geometrics (and don’t get me wrong, I’m still a fan of these in measure), curves and sumptuous finishes are back and ready to be added to your design mix.
Here’s a room to inspire. I think it showcases the feminine trend decisively. The room, and all the furniture, is by Bernhardt.

The sumptuous boudoir is dressed in their elegant “Marquesa” bed and side table. Both are polished and glamorous.
With a large crystal chandelier, scrolling wallpaper and gilt ceiling, too, this room is a refined retreat worthy of a marquesa—A.K.A. a Spanish marchioness. Toss in the teal studded leather chair and even the marquess will be excited.
Bernhardt pieces are available through Williams & Sherrill, Ruth & Ollie and The Shops at Carolina Furniture in Williamsburg. The complete line is also sold through local interior designers.
