If you’re still looking for gift ideas for dad for Father’s Day, here are two ideas I think might score you some points on Sunday.
Richmond’s become a mecca for craft beer. Getting growlers to go is the way a popular way to transport and try different brews.
Klean K'anteen, makers of the first BPA-free metal bottles, has introduced growlers to their line-up. You can find these at Walkabout Outfitter in Carytown.
Sold in 40 and 64-ounce sizes, Klean Kanteen’s growlers are stainless steel-insulated and keep beer cool and carbonated for 24 hours. They also look hip. “We’ve used all stainless steel German-bale-style growler caps for a really authentic and quality vibe,” says Phil Notheis, Klean Kanteen’s director of product.
The growlers are lightweight and super durable, and unlike glass and ceramic, they won’t break. Dad could take one on an outdoor adventure without worry and even attach one to his bike with a Klean Kanteen “bird cage.”
For better or worse, tools have long been traditional Father’s Day gifts. This year, why not up the tool ante and surprise dad with a PocketMonkey. It’s a stainless steel credit card-size tool that fits easily in a wallet and and performs 12 handy tasks, from opening bottle tops and door latches to working as a Phillips screwdriver, Hex wrench and cell phone stand.
Zootility Tools makes the PocketMonkey. You can find them for $13 at It’s Letter Perfect, 8909 Patterson Ave.
