Photographer Gordon Stettinius sees a world that lives just beside us, or in our collective past, capturing moments that you thought about in an afterimage: Did I really see that?
A portfolio of his work, called "Super Natural!," will be shown from May 1 through 30 at the Page Bond Gallery, 1625 W. Main St., and features prints made with the simple Diana and Holga "toy" cameras, and his reliable Rolleiflex. The Diana and Holga produce images with darkened edges and an antique feel.
These are environmental or "in street" portraits. Stettinius describes them as "moments of rarefied peculiarity."
"This is slightly amplified reality," Stettinius explains. "People in altered states: drag queens, parade goers, people dressed to the hilt. It's how I wish my life actually was."
