Last seen here electrifying listeners in the rain at Friday Cheers two years ago, the “Screaming Eagle of Soul” is making his way back to Richmond.
Set to play the RVA Field of Dreams Fest at the Altria Theatre on Oct. 2, Charles Bradley has weathered a long road, including homelessness and performing as a James Brown impersonator, before releasing his first record at age 62.
His 2013 album, Victim of Love, has quietly become an underground favorite. Also taking the stage will be a former Richmond band, The Congress, along with Black Joe Lewis and the Neil Tibert Band. 6:30 p.m. $25 to $100.
