Zach Williams started his band to take his mind off a near-tragic family accident, and The Lone Bellow’s inviting roots-rock sound has been therapeutic for the audience, too. Based in New York City’s Brooklyn borough, the trio has earned critics’ raves and a spot on the Billboard charts for its eponymous debut CD, which evokes the acoustic twang and harmonies of 1970s country rock while nodding to the contemporary rustic feel of Fleet Foxes and Mumford and Sons. The Lone Bellow and special guest Robert Ellis bring their warmth to the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts on Dec. 6. 7:30 p.m. $10 to $22. 289-8980 or modlin.richmond.edu.
