The Richmond Ballet's 30th season concludes May 13 to 18 with the Studio Three series offering a double bill featuring the world premiere of Lift the Fallen by longtime collaborator Ma Cong, resident choreographer for the Tulsa Ballet. "Cong's piece will be a mixture of the classical and neo-classical," says ballet spokeswoman Kate Crowder, "and quite emotional and elegant; it's about overcoming adverse circumstances presented by struggle and death." The companion piece is Jessica Lang's Lines Squared , commissioned by the ballet in 2009, with music by John Metcalfe and Thomas Metcalf, taking its cues from the geometric paintings of Piet Mondrian. As this season ends, the Richmond Ballet begins its "Road to China," which will take the company to the 15th Annual "Meet in Beijing" Arts Festival in China in May 2015. Times vary. $20 to $40 (opening night, $65 to $100). 344-0906, ext. 224 or richmondballet.com
