Like a punk rock song or a memorable affair, TheatreLab's production of the Patrick Marber play Closer is an intense engagement of six performances at the RVA Performance Space in Plant Zero. "What starts out as this wonderful love story turns into a soul-shattering descent into darkness and the struggle for power in intimate relationships," director Chanelle Vigue says. "But, we will be serving cocktails." Vigue directs a newer generation of Richmond actors: Evan Nasteff, Thomas Cunningham, Liz Earnest and Theresa Mantiply in a break-out role as Alice from May 3 to 10. This will be followed on May 16 and 17 by a contemporary version of Oscar Wilde's tragedy Salomé , directed by James Ricks, to benefit TheatreLab. 8 p.m. $20. 349-7616 or theatrelabrva.com .
