Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds have hit the charts the last couple of months with the release of the single "Sugar" from their third album, The Weather Below. The song about the anticipation of a first kiss pairs the bluesy vocals of lead singer Arleigh Kincheloe with a retro vibe.
A "hard soul collective" is how Kincheloe refers to the group from New York City's Brooklyn borough. The rest of the album fits that description perfectly, with highly listenable, funky beats and wide horn riffs.
