If planning a huge family barbecue for July 4th sounds too stressful, spend a relaxing afternoon sampling fine Virginia wines at James River Cellars’ Independence Day Wine and Cheese Pairings instead. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Luy 4 you can tour the vineyard, located atop a picturesque hill in Hanover County, and try wine and cheese pairings selected by the winery’s staff. “Each of our wines will have a cheese that goes with it, so each flavor really shines,†says Alison Althouse, the on-site event coordinator.
