Sounds like a '70s Saturday-morning TV show — starring the buttoned-up leader of our city and his wacky sidekick, a giant flying squirrel! A few weeks from the Richmond Flying Squirrels' debut, April 15, Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones trooped into The Diamond with his four-person entourage to join Nutzy, the AA baseball team's mascot (played here by corporate-sales intern Dan Finerfrock), in the stands, where they shared a couple of acorns. Team COO Todd "Parney" Parnell warned the squirrel: "Nutzy, you behave with the mayor, now. I don't want to send you away." For the record, the mayor plans to be at the first game against the Reading (Pa.) Phillies.
