December flew by in a flash of mistletoe, eggnog and holiday parties — as Decembers are known to do. With so many events on the calendar, there is always plenty of opportunity to get dressed to the nines and to play it casual in December, making it one of the most fun months to mix it up in your closet. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite looks from the last month of 2015; maybe you’ll find some last minute NYE outfit inspiration, whether you’re headed for a glam night out or staying cozy at home.
I love Celine Felix’s (@celine_felix) mix of proportion and texture with this shopping ensemble. The crop top with the midi skirt keeps her outfit fresh without looking too young, and the cream colored faux fur vest adds dimension and flair without taking it over the top.

Is there anything more dashing than a man in a bowtie and suspenders? It’s a classic Southern look and one Walker (@irawaywalker) pulls off flawlessly. Little details like the white collar, cuffed sleeves and bracelets help elevate the look from traditional to trendy. The cobblestone streets and old brick archways don’t hurt.

Brandon Robertson (@kingkazma) caught this cutie getting her caffeine kick at Lamplighter on one of Richmond’s more unseasonably warm days. I love that she still looks seasonal in a coat and boots but the bright, springy color and lack of tights keeps her (warmer) weather appropriate and cheerful.

Using a similar formula — but with completely different style results — Tori (@toriadday) has channeled her inner Penny Lane with a vintage faux fur-lined coat and ankle-strap heels. I love mixing more casual pieces with dressier ones, and her pink metallic babydoll dress adds just the right amount of sparkle to her 1970s inspired look.

Long live winter whites! Don’t pay attention to antiquated style rules; white is always in season! Megan’s (@sweetsauceblog) white jeans paired with a silk blouse/cropped sweater combo is an awesome alternative to winter’s darker shades. Her pink clutch is the perfect homage to the Quirk Hotel where she snapped this style shot!

Maybe I’ve mentioned once or twice but I’ll say it again…borrowing from the boys is one of my favorite trends for womenswear right now. I’m especially digging Tanesha’s (@discardtodistinct) approach; she’s taken traditional suiting pieces and made them super luxe and ultra feminine with a super fitted shirt and metallic trousers.

With Benjamin’s (@dappermarks22) look, it’s yet again all about the details. Pairing light purple with dark navy is a bold - but successful - move for evening— it’s sure to make the black suits in the room look like a snore. His tie clip, patterned socks, specs and beard finish off the look in an unexpected and personalized way.

The lady behind K.May Productions (@kmayproduction) absolutely killed the layering game with this December outfit. Faux fur, plaid and leopard — it’s a combination that could have easily become too trendy but K kept it classy by letting the plaid be the main event and keeping the leopard and faux fur in supporting roles.

I hope everyone has a festive, fun and safe New Year’s Eve, and I’ll see you again in 2016!
