It’s about time to start shopping for closed-toed shoes, pants and jackets. Some years when I pull out those thicker fall pants that have been stashed since winter, I notice that it’s time to shape up a little after a summer full of patio libations. Luckily, Soul Aerial and Performance Arts Center is opening this weekend at 1632 Ownby Lane — check out the grand opening to learn about some new ways to shape up.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there is family open house with a full lineup of demos including hooping, pole dance fitness, aerial silk, fan belly dancing, musical theater, sword belly dancing, and more. There will also be door prizes and raffles.
The 6,000-square-foot studio is owned by performance artist and U.S. National Pole & Aerial Championships gold medalist Flynn Cross, and will focus on both fitness and performance art. There will be classes for children and adults with all levels of experience.
Can’t make it during the day? There is also a grand opening party and performance for ages 21 and up Saturday night from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $5.
