Nearly 400 people attended the seventh annual Shining Knight Gala held by VCU Medical Center’s Level I trauma center on May 2. The event raised $202,200 for the trauma center’s injury and violence prevention programs. Keynote speakers included state Sen. Tommy Norment, R-Williamsburg; Dr. Marissa Levine, interim state health commissioner; and Dr. Michel Aboutanos, chief of trauma and chair of VCU’s Division of Acute Care Surgical Services.
