The Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising is going back to the basics with this year's annual Juried Fashion Show, RAW , to be held May 6 at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The show, which sold out less than three hours afer tickets went on sale, showcases about 100 garments handcrafted by junior and senior design students. "We wanted to focus on the craft of fashion," says RAW director and fashion-merchandising senior Danielle Ashe. Eleven design segments will be featured, including "Eco-Centric," a segment that focuses on sustainable fashion, and "Hip-Hop," a segment that focuses on male and female urban wear. If you can't get in to the 7:30 p.m. show, check the event's Facebook page ( facebook.com/vcufashion ) for photos. For more information, call 828-1699 or visit arts.vcu.edu/fashion .
