Melissa Bryant, owner of Richmond's Bombshell Brazilian Waxing and Skincare Studio, has been visiting Drybar salons during trips to Los Angeles for the past three years. The self-described "anti-salon," which offers blow-dry styling but no cutting or coloring, recently opened locations on the East Coast, but the closest location to Richmond is in Washington.
"I love the idea and nobody was doing it here," Bryant says. Soon after opening a second location in West Broad Village, Bombshell began offering a "Wash, Blow and Go" special, a $35 shampoo and blow-dry service that mimics the Drybar concept. Bombshell ( ilovebombshell.com ), which opened its first salon in Carytown, also recently started hosting Botox and Bubbly parties at its new location.
"I want [the salon] to be a fun place where people want to come and hang out," Bryant says.
