Japanese wood lacquer plates
After days of hunkering down with family and friends enjoying the holiday season, I’m on the lookout now for a refreshing outing. This coming Saturday I’ll be heading to The Richmond Antiques Spectacular at Meadow Event Park in Doswell. It’s the antiques show’s 25th year. The Spectacular is open this Saturday, Jan. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hosted by Renaissance Promotions, more than 30 exhibitors will show off their wares, which range from high to low and in between. You’ll find everything from oil paintings, folk-art game boards and fine furniture to sterling candlesticks, blue-and-white porcelain and antique farm tools.
Local sellers Jill Apperson and Rebecca Perrine Antiques of Richmond will be there, as will Paige and Bob’s Antiques from Hopewell, and Chuck Saunders of Midlothian. Dealers from Maryland, Pennsylvania and North and South Carolina will also be on hand.
Admission is $6, and Meadow Event Park is at Exit 98 off Interstate 95.
