Southern Culture on the Skids performs at The Broadberry Sept. 26.
Chicken does indeed fly at Southern Culture on the Skids shows — the fried variety. The rockabilly group from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is coming to The Broadberry (with Richmond’s Bopcats opening) Sept. 26, with its rollicking, grimy rock ’n’ roll. If you’ve never been to a SCOTS concert, the band tosses chicken into the audience during “8 Piece Box.” Entering its third decade performing, Southern Culture on the Skids is releasing an EP later this year with Fred Schneider of the B-52s, a union that seems made in heaven — or at least in a roadhouse. 8 p.m. $14 to $17. 353-1888 or thebroadberry.com.
