The kids are coming home for the first time since an alumni show in 2002: Graduates of VCU’s Department of Dance and Choreography are gathering on Oct. 23 and 24 to mark the program’s 35th anniversary.
“The span of years of the alums is 1990 to 2014,” says Lea Marshall, associate chairwoman of VCU Dance. “That’s 24 years — a significant chunk of our history.” Dance pieces were curated from submissions.
The 16 dancers include Monstah Black (formerly Reggie Crump), now a New York City cabaret artist; contemporary dance troupe director and Richmonder Starrene Foster and Margaret Allen (pictured).
