The fate of the Greater Richmond Transit Co.’s old bus depot in the Fan will come down to one of 12 proposals.
The deadline to submit a proposal for the seven-acre site at 101 S. Davis Ave. was Wednesday at 11 a.m. Local firms that submitted pitches include The Wilton Companies, Commonwealth Properties, and Historic Housing LLC, the holding-company headed by Louis Salomonsky and David White of SWA Architects.
Out-of-town firms include Norfolk-based Kotarides Developers, which in 2013 broke ground on a massive residential development near Chesterfield Towne Center, as well as Maryland-based Greenberg Gibbons Commerical, which specializes in the development of shopping centers.
An evaluation committee made up of GRTC staff will weigh the proposals in the next week and may interview candidates. Negotiations are scheduled to take place from mid-July to early September, according to the request for proposals. The selection committee will favor offers that “presents GRTC with the highest return,” according to the RFP.
The property’s future could be decided at the transit company’s board of directors meeting on Sept. 15.
