Local developers who won the bid to purchase the old GRTC bus barn will unveil on Thursday night conceptual plans for the prized Fan property.
A public meeting to solicit feedback on the initial plans is scheduled tonight at 6 p.m. at John B. Cary Elementary School at 3021 Maplewood Ave. Representatives from DKJ Richmond LLC are holding the meeting to fulfill a requirement of the sale of the seven-acre parcel. A second meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22 at Cary Elementary.
DKJ, a partnership between Chris Johnson and Tom Dickey of The Monument Cos. and Howard Kellman of The Edison Co., bid $9.12 million for the 112-year-old property, which lies just south of Cary Street between Davis and Robinson avenues. In July, the property appraised for $7 million, according to GRTC.
GRTC’s board of directors voted to proceed with the sale at its September meeting. The transit company plans to use proceeds from the sale to fund a future capital project.
The deal could close as early as mid-November.
