Organizers of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships will kick off a round of 12 community meetings across the region tonight in Hanover. The meetings are intended to answer last-minute questions about the nine-day event, which is about seven weeks away.
The Worlds are projected to attract tens of thosands of spectators from Sept. 19 to Sept. 27. The city of Richmond and Henrico and Hanover counties will each host the start of at least one of the event’s races. All races will end in downtown Richmond.
On Wednesday, organizers will release the event’s traffic management plan, which will detail road closures resulting from the races, as well emergency information, satellite parking locations and shuttle schedules for visitors and locals going to and from downtown.
