Richmond magazine is joining local nonprofit organizations for Mayorathon 2016, a mayoral candidate forum focusing on four topics: improving public education, transportation, strengthening city neighborhoods and protecting the James River.

The forum, free and open to the public, will take place Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Leslie Cheek Theater and will be followed by a reception, where candidates can mingle with the public from 8 to 9 p.m.

Hosts include James River AssociationRichmond ForwardRVA Rapid TransitSports Backers and Storefront for Community Design. The forum will be guided by responses to questionnaires that each nonprofit has distributed to the candidates for Richmond mayor. None of these groups is endorsing a candidate.
