The Richmond Association of Realtors' political action committee on Sunday endorsed former Venture Richmond executive Jack Berry’s campaign for Richmond mayor.
The committee is the political arm of Central Virginia’s largest trade association, with more than 4,300 members. In a news release, the organization praised Berry’s experience working in City Hall and as an administrator in Hanover County.
“[Berry] has spent the last 35 years forging positive working relationships with people in Richmond and throughout the region,” Laura Lafayette, the organization’s chief executive officer, states in the release. “Those relationships will prove invaluable as he leads the city forward.”
The Realtors are the latest local organization to endorse a candidate in the eight-person field. Last Thursday, the Richmond City Democratic Committee endorsed former Secretary of the Commonwealth Levar Stoney. In August, Stoney earned the Home Building Association of Richmond's endorsement.
Berry also has received endorsements from former Richmond City Council member and state delegate Viola Baskerville, as well as longtime Richmond Public Schools educator Thomasina Binga.
