Inside New England-based apparel retailer Vineyard Vines' store at Stony Point Fashion Park, customers are greeted by the transom of a custom fishing boat that serves as a checkout counter, a ceramic shark that is suspended from the ceiling and a lounge area with beach chairs, a Wii and a flat-screen TV. "The idea of our store is to feel like a mini-vacation," says co-founder and CEO Ian Murray. The preppie clothing shop, which started as an independent tie brand, opened its almost 4,000-square-foot store across from Banana Republic on May 17. The Richmond store is the third in Virginia; the other two are in Northern Virginia.
