About 2,500 bicyclists will come together this month for the ninth annual Cap2Cap ride in support of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. Riders can choose a 25-, 50- or 100-mile ride starting from either Rocketts Landing in Richmond or Chickahominy Park in Williamsburg, or a 15-mile fun ride starting in Williamsburg. "We netted $140,000 last year, which went to projects like the Shiplock Park trailhead, and the signage and amenities that will go along the trail as each new phase is complete," says Beth Weisbrod, the foundation's executive director. The 50-mile Virginia Capital Trail between the two cities is scheduled for completion on Sept. 1, 2015. By this fall, 13 more miles of the trail should be ready, making a 29-mile continuous route. Post-ride festivities on May 10 include food, live music and a vendor expo. First ride begins at 7:30 a.m. $40 to $90. virginiacapitaltrail.org .
